Auto Express mini one d

2011. 66k miles
Bought from and Fully maintained/ serviced by Halliwell Jones bmw/ mini garage Southport.
Heard unusual vibration and sought advice.
Told it was to a known bmw engine fault namely the oil pump chain had become too slack.
Â£2666 to repair!
Mini service contacted mini headquarters to ask for goodwill but declined. I've also asked but once again told no.
Surely if it's a known fault they should take some responsibility!?
I wondered if others have had this problem or if you can advise?
