loan for dog
I bought a dog for 1000$. I put 200$ down and was told my payments would be 102$ a month for 12 months. It's been about 10 months, so I called to check what I still owed. They said 1016$ is my balance. How can that be. They say my contract is for 23 months and I would have never agreed to that. I am a single mother of 7 who lives on disability. My kids just wanted a dog. Why should I be stuck paying 300percent interest. I looked online and found dozens of complaints from people saying the same thing. The pet store said one thing and now they find out they owe triple what they thought. It's not fair and should not be allowed. I would have taken a personal loan for 1000$ from my bank if I knew I would be raped like this. I am going to the pet store at 4 to talk to the owner. I am so furious. And if u don't pay it could ruin your credit which I've tried so hard to get good. It finally is and now this. I refuse to pay more than what I was told. Please help me and others like me.

predatory finance company
Wags lending/ Noah's ark pet shop financed a puppy for me They use a tablet instead of paperwork and the finance seemed basic, was told the contract would be sent to Wags for final approval and back to my home for signature. Never got the paperwork noticed money being taken out of my bank account but it was double what the agreement stated. No one at Wags would explain this but during a thunderstorm my dog climbed the fence and is gone. Noah's ark told me the finance company has lost or stolen insurance on the pet loan. Wags said No it's not true and also found they swapped the finance form with a lease form and used a computer signature. Contacted Missouri and Kansas attorney General office they both have pending complaints against Wags and asked me to send all info to them and tape any conversations with them. Wags is a scam company and is a predatory lending company.
The entire concept
This is about the most evil thing I've ever heard of.
I do dog rescue. You want a purebreed? We have plenty. Shelters have plenty. It's evil to have a pet you're renting. Animals don't do well being shoved around to home after home, trust me on this one, we go through great lengths to see that a dog only has 3 owners - the original one that dumped it, us, then the final owner.
I can tell you exactly what probably happens with a dog that is returned to these 'people' - it's killed.
This is the craziest, most barbaric, financial scam I've ever seen.
You want a pure breed and can't afford it? I have a good suggestion for you - join a dog rescue. Rescues are often willing to pay the cost of having the dog. You have first pick if you want to keep the animal as well. You will learn a LOT about the breed that you have, because (at least in good rescues), you have a bunch of fanatics for the breed who ADORE them. You will get lots of free advice and help. You also might find out that the breed you always wanted, you hate having to take care of. I thought I wanted a Siberian, until I did rescue for 6 of them. They just aren't the right dog for me.
Just go to a search engine and search for your location, the breed you want and "rescue". Most rescues are very happy to accept new members as well.
This entire concept, utter failure in terms of any morality at all.
Hi Richard. My name is Bhavana and I work for the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Thank you so much for all the great work you do with your animal rescue, and I completely agree with you that shelters and rescues are the place to go for a companion animal. We would love for you to share more about your experience with us as it would be incredibly valuable in dealing with this issue. Would you be able to reach out to us at press@aspca.org? Or if you could give us your contact info, we’d be happy to reach out to you. Thank you!

Purchase of my puppy
I bought my puppy two years ago! I paid everything but $900 for him. They told me I could do wags financing to finish out the remainder amount. Thinking this puppy should get a good home I said okay. I apply for it I was approved for way over what I needed. I have been paying $92 for 2 YEARS NOW! They scam you! And now I owe them $165 dollars to keep my dog. Like I was renting him for 2 years. This place is a scam and I am going to the BETER BUISNESS BUREAU! I had to pay $900 and over the two years of paying $92 dollars I am paying them over the price of my dog! NO ONE SHOULD USE THEM. THEY SCAM YOU INTO THINKING YOU ARE ONLY PAYING YHE AMOUNT OF KONEY TONPAY OFF YOUR DEBT BUT THEY SCREW YOU AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT MAKE YOU PAY EVEN MORE IN THE END TO "buy". YOUR DOG LIKE YOU WERE RENTING THEM FROM THEM. I AM FED UP AND WANT A REFUND OF MONEY. OR THE BETTER BUSINESSES BUREAU WILL BE GETTING A HOLD OF THEM.

Puppy financing
My boyfriend and I purchased a dog from The Breeders Association of America in Brick, NJ. We automatically fell in love with a puppy and had to take her home. We were offered the "financing" through wags lending. The girl at the store informed us it would be free of interest for the first 12 months and if we didn't pay off the $1, 500 by then then fees and interest would be applied. We would have just paid cash for the dog (and I sure wish we had) but we no interest for a year sounded awesome so we agreed. When we were given the contract we asked about the numbers we saw and she said don't worry about those numbers as long as you make your monthly payments for a year you won't have to worry about those. Excited and giddy to take home our new baby we just signed the papers and couldn't wait to take her home. Fast forward 14 months I notice I am still getting charged my monthly payments and when I called wags to find out what was going on they explained to me I have a 30 month "lease to buy" this was never an interest free financing. And now my $1, 500 "loan" is turning into a $4, 000 one. This means wags is making 300% interest. It still doesn't even make any sense to me. I wish I would have known the correct information because I would have paid cash and wouldn't be out an extra $3, 500. The pet store refused to take any responsibility even though their employee obviously was new or poorly trained. We even recommended the place to my boyfriends mother and she bought a puppy there. What a mistake. We are just so disappointed with Wags and The breeders association of America. We feel completely taken advantage of. It's just unbelieveable a company can do this and get away with it. We've been robbed.
Wags leasing try to collect money from my bank account after account was paid.
I purchased a puppy from wags and then Monterey financial. I paid all of my payments on time but don't know how to make my last payment of $150.00. If you know who and how to make it I would really appreciate it. My contact email is: debbiefletcher878@gmail.com.
good afternoon I need information about my credit with you I stole the credit information papers thank you
Game on. I leased a dog through WAGS lending a year ago and made the initial payment in store and have not made any other payments to the company in a year. I will not settle for being scammed and threatened. When/if it goes to collections, they will negotiate the debt and WAGS will, as usual lose in the end. It's been a year and they haven't been on my credit. Game on, I dare them to try to come on my property and "reclaim" the dog, just like people who rent to own furniture. Possession is 9/10th of the law...I am not paying 3k for a dog, I have the receipt that shows what I paid for the dog and that's all I am paying, They tell me the extra is "taxes, fee's" what whatever they want to pull out of their hat, which is crap. This is not up for debate, two can play this game. PS... I am in Florida (If that makes any difference) *** just adopt, Don't shop and regret**
I purchased a dog at the pet store in November 2016 and financed through wags lending then Monterey financial ended up being who paid my payments to . I absolutely love my dog and would never regret him but never again will I do this they are a rip off. I’m still paying for the dog and won’t be finished till November of 2018 3 more months thank goodness but they financed me more than the cost of my dog and my monthly payment is 137.84 when I have my last payment I have to call in and pay 200 dollars so I can own him she said I’m renting my dog I won’t own him till November this is the biggest bs I’ve ever heard of renting a dog that’s ridiculous to say such a thing he’s part of my family so anyone thinking of doing this do not do it
I too was used for this terrible mistake. I fell absolutely in love with a puppy in the pet store and I just couldn't leave because of how bad they had treated him at the store. I was looking for a toy poodle and I thought maybe the pet store has one! So I went and I asked and I got told "oh hes in the back.. I guess I'll go get him." So I waited for her to bring him out and he was so scared shaking, whining, and I held him and he immediately stopped and from then on I knew there was no way I could leave him there! So I didn't have all the money that was needed to purchase him I believe it was right under $2000.00. The sales associate said oh we have a financing partner, as long as you pay your payments and as soon as he is paid off he is all yours. So I agreed at a whopping $250.00 payments a month and long story short from the first vet appt this poor puppy was not in fact healthy. He was severely malnourished, had constant bloody diarrhea and wouldn't gain any weight no matter how much he ate, I contacted the pet store and they told me, "he is your problem now." 6 months fast forward making my payments with no problems, he somehow got out of my yard and ran off and came back with a broken front leg. I immediately took him to an Emergency Vet and was told to take him to a special orthopedic vet that can attempt to do surgery. I paid for both visits which costed me over $1000.00, at the orthopedic specialist I was told yes they can do surgery but if he jumps off the couch wrong it would rebreak. And to try and let his leg heal by itself in a cast with no activity besides going to the bathroom and letting him eat. So I tried everything possible for little to no movement with him for 3 months and his leg was still not healed. It came down to the point of getting his leg amputated or putting him down. Amputation costed $1200.00. Keep in mind I stopped paying Monterey because of all these huge vet bills I was struggling to stay alive in which I contacted them and they did not care to even understand! I contacted them one month later and they would not be understanding only to tell me I need to pay or they will come and get him and I asked what they would do if they got him and I was told they would more than likely put him down. So I made arrangements through my vet for the amputation and currently I get nasty calls from Monterey Financial, I have a balance of 2500 in collections now and I still have a vet bill that's 700. I just can't seem to figure out what else I should do. Monterey Financial is a terrible company and is so rude and unhelpful. I dont know what to do

I am appalled by this company, I originally financed my puppy through Wags and than Monterey financial took it over first of all my puppy cost $900. than $350. for plane that's fine I'm paying on time I happened to look and I owed $3000. I'm like WTF didn't get any answers so I paid what I paid for my puppy and plane ticket and than I stopped paying and that was the biggest mistake I destroyed my credit they were harassing me I changed my phone number and I check my credit report and it says I still owe 2500. this is ridiculous I'm so aggravated never do business with this company
Hello, Patty. Have any you filed a lawsuit against these two companies? My name is Paul, and I work for 1-800-LAW-FIRM in Southfield, MI. They are a national law firm taking issues like these under consideration for mass tort cases. Your claim, if you decide to call us and proceed, will be seen in court individually. You wouldn't have to travel to court, or pay out of pocket for the legal process either. You could call me toll free at [protected] for more information.
Paul - Thank you for reaching out to Patty. I hope that she contacted you and you are able to take some action against a ruthless company like this.

If the ASPCA is of any use, you'd be working to put this company out of business.
This company doesn't finance pets it rents them out. You know there's plenty of rescues of any breed everywhere, that are trying to rehome dogs already, and they are significantly cheaper than a puppy, plus you know they need a home.
