Trane inferior quality

Purchased a new Trane system through Home Depot on 2/09 to replace the original home system. The original system was reported to be a low quality, unreliable, builders special system but it never broke down over the 8-9 years. To avoid a possible disastrous break-down, the original system was replaced to alleviate any worries. After only 2-3 years, the blower motor and circuit board failed.Labor costs of about $500.00 later.Trane did not care about their inferior product failure even with a disabled family member in the home.Which product was the real inferior one ... the original system that never broke down or the new one that failed in only 2-3 years? The Trane name was heavily advertised as a quality, reliable, efficient system. The new system is as noisy as the old one, utility costs are the highest ever, and it failed already! Absolutely, do not purchase a Trane product unless you desire costly aggravation and a lack of consumer care!

I purchased top of the line TRANE system for my house in 2012---$10, 000++. In 5 years I had to replace 2 compressors and the coil. Plus, TRANE wouldn't honor their labor warranty and it cost me $4, 000 more to replace the failed parts. Stay way away from TRANE!

New home (2 years old) has three Trane Units (2TEC 3F models). One compressor failed w/in one 1yr. The air handler coil on another leaked refrigerant and had to be replaced but i had to pay $775 in labor. The A/C tech said when Trane was bought by Ingersol-Rand in 2008 they changed materials, design, and manufacturing to reduce production costs. Trane knows the coils are a liability be will replace them only if they fail under the 5 year parts warranty. My liability could amount an additional $1500! This is horrible customer service - The executives, specifically, the those responsible for total quality should be fired!

Trane inferior product

On Oct 29, 2007, I contracted with an authorized Trane dealer and purchased an XL14 SEER, model # 4WCY4024A1000AA. On April 25, 2011 after only using the air conditioning for 2 summers, our unit no longer cooled. It blew air but no cold air. On 4-26-11, I contacted a certified Trane technician to come out and diagnose the problem. I was informed that beneath the panel, the copper distributor lines touched and due to the normal vibration of the system it caused the copper to have a hole in the line. This leaked out the freon enough that it would not hold a charge. I could have them replace the coil that has the lines built on for over $900 or I could repair the copper line and have it soldered for $655. My system has a 10 yr warranty on parts but not labor. I decided to minimize the damages and paid to have the line repaired instead of having Trane replace the coil on 4-27-11. I also contacted Ingersol Rand on 4-27-11 for a phone number and was given the wrong number and hung up on instead of transferred like I was told. I looked up Trane online and found a consumer website to file a complaint and did so. Today, 4-29-11, I received an email with no name back that said it was out of their control. I called the Tyler, TX office and asked to speak to Nicole Fields, the supervisor. I was told she was at lunch and would return my call. The email tried to put the fault on the installer, the technician, or me. None of the three listed manufactured or assembled that system. This is a manufacturing defect that should be recalled & repaired at Trane's expense. They do not want to pay their certified tech for this but neither did I! They don't care about the quality of their product, because if they did, they would have quality control measures in place for this and not have outsourced the coil to be made in China! They sell inferior and defective products and certainly lack in customer service!

Have a Trane XL19i 2.5 ton, also have a Goodman heat pump 4 ton, Goodman is a 13 seer about 14 yrs. old, the Trane XL19i is 5 yrs. old, every winter, live in North Carolina on coast, have trouble with Trane in heating mode, have had tech out servicing unit 2to 3 times mostly winter months, the Goodman still heats great in winter no problems, never had a tech out for it, am now thinking about buying a furnace to back up Trane heat pump, just can't afford to junk it, plus seems to do okay in summer months for cooling. Any comments would maybe help.

We have a 16 seer Trane and replacing our 2nd coil in a 4 year old home, that we have only lived in for 1 1/2 years. Prior to this residence, we had moved in a brand new home with American Standard. A/C. We had a defective coil in that home within 4 years. So now we have paid labor and multiple service visits over $1, 000 for nearly new units.

I think the main purpose of your post is to do biased name calling. In one sentence you say how you have been selling Trane for a VERY LONG TIME. Then in another sentence you say that you SWITCHED TO TRANE. Obviously there are some lies circulating with the air. Stories contradict themselves. Your account has 1 post and was created October 22, 2012 ( Just yesterday). Incidently, ALL MANUFACTURERS test run their units before they leave the factory. Additionally the wiring technicians wire hundreds of units everyday and must pass wiring tests before going onto the line. I have been to Carrier & American Standard/Trane in Tyler, Rheem/Ruud in Ft.Smith Arkansas, Goodman/ Amana in Houston, and all have excellent quality control programs. It sounds to me like you are seriously full of it and have no idea what you are talking about. I seriously doubt Trane or any other manufacturer is going to let literally thousands of units pass by QC they they would ultimately have to pay a contractor to site repair. It just does not make financial sense.
Additionally, if there were problems, what Model and Serial series did it affect? I have seen none.

I have been selling Trane equipment for a very long time. I have notice that the light commercial equipment I have been selling that comes from Tyler Texas is not manufacture correctly. Wiring and installed items. I must say I'm rather disappointed in the poor quality that I have been witnessing. If I wanted to sell an inferior product I would sell Goodman or some other low grade unit. I switched to Trane because it was a better product. How is Trane maintaining it's ISO certification if they have this many defects in their manufacturing process. It bodes the question just how much weight do these ISO ratings really carry with regards to "QUALITY"?
I would hope Trane does not go the path that Lennox and Carrier have gone before.

Yes, that is definately the issue...out of millions made, millions of condenser coils are failing everyday, that is why people continue to buy them. The failure rate is actually so outstanding it must be the number 1 story on CNN. Why is it when one person has a failure on their equipment and too cheap to buy a labor warranty that it becomes the manufacturers position to have to go beyond the terms that were accepted when the unit were purchased. Don't you think the people at the FTC have heard from this kind of chronic complainer before? Get for real and get a life.

EVERYONE! If you have a problem with TRANE condenser coils, CALL THE Federal Trade Commission at [protected] and LODGE A COMPLAINT. The specific issue is that the company continued to manufacture and distribute units with known defects in the condenser coils AND will not pay for a COMPLETE replacement - INCLUDING LABOR. Many disreputable installers are only too happy to sell a TRANE unit, because they have a GUARANTEED source of income - all the service costs involved with replacing the unit. If all consumers contact the FTC - a case will be opened and an investigation will proceed.

The unit was installed in 2007. That was 3-1/2 years ago. During that time settling, vibration and other factors can cause it to make contact and leak. Why did you not buy a labor warranty at the time? They were definately available. It is a calculated risk that you took and the numbers didn't play in your favor. Did you have a technician out on an annual basis to check the system? Perhaps it would have been caught then, instead of now, and if you did have a technician check it, why did he not find it? If the copper had not been properly soldered...that would have been a defect in materials or workmanship. It's not like thousands of units are having the same problem as yours. Perhaps in the installation process it was bumped or something to shift the distributer... How would that be Trane's fault?
People forget...Warranties are against defects in materials and workmanship in the building of a unit, not against some knucklehead that does not know how to handle the equipment during installation or some home-owner that doesn't want to pay to have annual check-ups.

Trane it really ain't hard to stop a trane

Both compressors in the my four year old two stage Trane AC unit went out during 100 degree weather in Allen, Texas.

Trane did not have these very critical parts available for replacement, the story is "they are being manufactured at the factory" this is day 4 with no AC, the say the parts will "PROBABLY BE READY" on Thursday.

We'll see.

They hide their customer service numbers, had to go through the Better Business Bureau website to find it.

All I can say is, don't buy a TRANE.

Trane sells a lemon

Our less than 4 year old $9655 Trane Ac needs a new compressor. Even though the part is covered it is still going to cost us over $890 for labor and installation. This system when it was less that 1 year old had a small leak and needed freon. I truly beleive we have a lemon. I am disappointed in the performance of this top of the line name brand.

Trane I have bought my last trane anything

Below is a letter I sent to Trane back in '07. Another couple of years have passed and now I am really tired of this product. You can't clean the collection cells back to their original white color so how effective can they be if they are stained and dirty? Vacuuming doesn't work. Rinsing doesn't work and you can't even use mild soap like Seventh Generation or Dr. Bronners. I use a styrofoam packing peanut to clean the field charger electrodes. I want Trane to replace the collection units with clean one and show me the method to get them back to bright white each time they need cleaning like they were when new. And they should refund my money for misrepresenting a product that isn't easy to clean and carries a warning label "CAUTION SHARP EDGES THIS PART IS NOT SERVICEABLE BY THE HOME OWNER". It doesn't sense the dirt level as the original brochure stated. I have bought my last Trane anything.

Trane sears refusing warranty

I bought a Trane Heating and Air-conditioning unit from your company in March of 2002. At that time I purchased the extra warranty.
The heating unit goes out just about every year, and every year I call Sears and every year they have gave me a hassle about the warranty. The warranty clearly states (Heat Cool and Condenser). The repairmen have come out and repaired the unit several times with no charge, but this time I was informed from the repairman if he came to my house he would have to charge me a fee. I refused the service because I refuse to pay for something that is still under warranty. I have also filed a claim with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as the warranty directs me to do for arbitration. I tried to send the warranty so you could read it but it was too large. The word for word is:
Contract Number: [protected] Payment method: 89931 Contract expiration: 11/02/2011 Product: Heat Cool and Condenser
Model number: TUD08R9V3JI Service Location: In-Home Purchase Date: 11/02/2001. I would like for you the Sears Company to honor the warranty. I can be reached at [protected]@aol.com.

Trane piece of crap

Purchased Trane furance w/honeywell humdifer & central AC for a 3 unit small apartment builing, one per unit in late May 2007. This is the second winter, still experiencing problems. I have already replaced sensors on 2 units. Last night on the coldest day in Chicago, we had no heat. The units are vented directly off east exterior wall, my installer says that Trane has a malfuntion, and high winds it causes a backdraft into unit thus putting out the flame. I live in the Windy city. Last night the installer had to cut off the fresh air pipe, and remove it totally off unit, says cold air caused condinsation to freeze in pipe thus plugging up the fresh air pipe. After 14 1/2 hrs heat is back on. Either I have a dummy for a installer or Trane products are a peice of crap!

Trane nothing, but problems

I have a XB80 furnace it’s less the 5 years and and is not worked very hard here in Seattle. Now it won't turn on. The small blower starts then it flashes the led 3 times for a while then stops. The main burner never lights. After about 5 seconds it starts all over again.

I see that many people have this problem but I can't find a definitive solution.

Trane terrible experience

Do not buy a Trane . All the ratings are bs. I am a landlord that has dealt with numerous products over the past 20 years. The Trane system I bought broke down (dumping water on electronic components) within 3 years. Go with Rheem or anybody else. I've bought virtual no name units that have lasted longer. They do not honor their manufacturers or extended warranty either. I had to pay for all new parts. They stated that the unit was not under normal use (bs) and that the specific parts were not covered by the warranty (bs). Useless.

Trane simply awful

This product has had to have 2 circuit boards replaced within 2 years of installation. I paid as much for the servce to do it as I would have paid for a cheap furnace from Home Depot instead of the $2000+ I overspent on this piece of junk. Trane is washing their hands of me as well as the installer. Never buy a Trane...yes I researced it before purchasing and it was rated highly by consumer reports. Boy were they wrong!

Trane trane salesman

There is a Trane Salesman that is involved in illegal activities with regards to government(Military) employees. He has purchased them alcohol with his credit card on several occasions for purposes of getting his equipment on Dyess Air Force base. This issue is morally wrong and against the law. There are several witnesses that have overheard this withing their Civil Engineering HVAC shop and have witnessed Randy Barnett (Trane Salesman) doing this activity. This is appauling and should be dealt with before these two witnesses go to the new paper with this report. They would rather do this anonomously and without public support, but if not dealt with, they are willing to testify to this issue.

Wait, what? Please try to be a bit more cogent and articulate in the description of your complaint. I have reread what you wrote, and have no idea about what you are actually alleging. Is the issue that someone bought some underage soldiers alcohol? If so...SO WHAT!?

Trane defective trane hvac

We purchased a Trane HVAC from Home Depot(they contracted out with Advantage Air) on July 14th. It has been leaking for over 2 months and now we have water damage as well as mold. The A/C came with two defective parts. Advantage air has been out over five times and Home depot has been out twice.
We are stuck with this defective A/C and no one is taking responsibility for anything.
Home Depot told us Fri that they will take care of the water damage ONLY if we keep the defective Trane A/C from Advantage Air.
How many times does it take for a company to come out to see that the unit is broken. Just goes to show you ...once you start having problems..no one is there for you .
When you want to go higher up with the big companies...they will not give out the "real bosses" numbers. HELP

I agree . . . never again on Trane and no referrals to clients. I too have had bad luck with Trane. Have been a homeowner for 45 years and never had more than $100 - 150 repair bill on a furnace and never had to replace a furnace. In 2004 I needed a new AC and decided that since my functioning furnace was 20 years old that I would replace it too, more for safety reasons than anything, and possible for efficiency. So now, 5.5 years after the new furnace was installed the circuit board goes bad and my bill, including the service call will be $578. I think that it is deplorable that an expensive piece of equipment lasts only 5 years. Now they are telling me that the new board is only warranted for 1 year and that until the new board is in, they can't tell for sure that the board is the only problem. I will be replacing another AC unit and furnace in my home in the near future and guess what? You can be sure it WILL NOT be a Trane! Since I currently have unlimited server space and a .com only costs nine dollars I am considering my own web site against Trane products.
