Be aware this company does not do any transportation, they subcontract it out to independent contractors and that's where the trouble started.
My father passed away and I needed to transport his two cats 2200 miles and I was desperate to find anything, so did not do my due diligence. I was expecting something along the lines of a Sprinter van (for a "shared ride") with enclosures for each animal, but nope, a dented Nissan Rogue with loose dogs in the backseat (in violation of their own policy) arrived. Their policy was that the owner was to transfer the animal into the cage in their vehicle and before I could even do anything, the driver had opened the transfer cage and started trying to stuff the cat in the cage. The cat (who had been given a sedative two hours before!) panicked due to the proximity of strange dogs and scratched, causing the driver to drop the cat. I attempted to grab the cat and was also bit and scratched. The cat ran off and was gone.
Long story short, I sent them away because the cat wasn't coming back and ended up having to transport the cats myself (the one who got away eventually showed back up, luckily) and I was out about $3000 all told as the subcontractor refused to refund a penny. They straight up lied and claimed I had control of the cat at all times and was therefore responsible. Then they claimed they wouldn't refund any money because their driver was injured (in spite of the fact it was due to his violating their policy). When I pointed out that if I supposedly had control of the cat at all times, how did the driver get injured?, the story instantly changed to the driver (out of the goodness of his heart) had supposedly tried to help me get the cat. This was and is a total lie, keeping in mind the person claiming this did not even get out of the car!
I'll need to see if the neighbors have some Ring camera footage of the incident but if you contract with Pet Commute, be very careful and ask a lot of questions before you give them a dime.
Recommendation: Research first, verify everything in writing. Video the transfer
