NH Davidson Urology has air fresheners in their lobby. Upon entering the lobby, it is so strong and it will about knock you down. The Atrium side in this office has complained and they said they "turned it down." First of all, this is a health care facility. There should NOT be any air fresheners anywhere! There are signs all the time that say no perfumes due to people with Asthma. I have NEVER been in a health care office or hospital that had an air freshener. It is so strong I have to ask to be put in a room because I cannot wait in the lobby. It is also so strong that it goes through the reception window and back into the office and rooms! Now come on! Nicole Jackson, the administrator over the office, says corporate approved it, some are just "more sensitive" than others, and pretty much nothing is going to change. I have been to this Novant side years ago and there was no air freshener. I don't know what idiot in corporate would approve something like this in a health care facility. Obviously, one with no health care experience or knowledge! That is nursing 101! Remove this or face a lawsuit! If I have an Asthma attack while there; you will be responsible.
Recommendation: Don't go to Davidson Urgology if you also have hx of Asthma!
So, I call to make a formal complaint with Novant. I am put on hold for about 10-15 minutes. Jennifer comes back and says I can't file a complaint if I am not with Novant. Well, I have been a Novant patient before and I have been seen in Davidson Urology before. I also have already complained twice to Atrium but the air fresheners are on the Novant side and approved by their corporate office! So, she was saying if you are not a patient of Novant, you can't make a complaint. Really? If I go to visit someone at Novant or I am in any Novant facility and I find an issue, you won't take it? Absurd! Thankfully, Danielle, came on the line, took my complaint and was kinder about this. Complaint lines are to listen and send it to the appropriate place, period! You don't sit there and make someone feel like they can't make a complaint on such a strong-smelling air freshener that affects your asthma! Again, healthcare 101!
