We sailed on the Pride of America ship NCL on 3/28 to 4/4/26. It became very evident that Norwegian was nickel and diming their customers. We spoke to many guests on the ship, and they felt the same way. We paid for the drink package $420 dollars for my wife and I, looking at our bill, we noticed charges on our bill for drinks. The waitress failed to inform us that the drink we ordered was not included in our package. As customers we are not keeping track of all the drinks that are not included in our packages. How hard is it for the wait staff to remind us that the drink ordered may not be in your package Norwegian! We also found out that we would have to pay for water approx. $26.? Per day/per person WE PAID FOR A DRINK PACKAGE!
We did know that the state of Hawaii was charging a tax of 11%, Our total cost for the cruise was required to be paid before we took the cruise our total cost included $303.50 for Tax/Fees/Port Exp. What we didn’t know was that once we were on the ship Norwegian also charged us a 2nd additional 3% tax on top of the 11% as the customer service rep at the desk explained to us, 14% total tax, WOW! This tax came to over $600.00.
We also ate at the Skyline Restaurant, looking at the breakfast menu, most of the items on the menu were included however, if you want a steak, it will cost you $10.00 however, at dinner it was included in the menu at no charge. Pay close attention to your receipts at Restaurants also because the TIP IS ALREADY INCLUDED in your receipt. It would be very easy for customers to add a second gratuity to the receipt when signing the bill if they don’t review their bill closely. Why are they giving us a receipt in the 1st place!
Take the second gratuity line off the receipt Norwegian! How much do you want to gouge your passengers…. really!
We have sailed on 4 cruises to date and by far this cruise has been the most expensive!
My wife and I are very disappointed with Norwegian for purposely nickel and diming their customers. We will be cruising again, but it will not be any time soon on Norwegian, you have lost us for a customer.
P.s all my friends are asking me how our cruise went.
Recommendation: Read these reviews about NCL before you cruise
