I have had an incredibly disappointing experience with HomeGain Pet Recovery. I attempted to pay for their service online, but their system kept crashing and refused to accept my credit cards. I contacted their customer support multiple times via email and received absolutely no response.
In November, I mailed a check for $24.99, and to this day, it still has not been cashed. I am now left without any way to resolve this issue, as their communication channels seem entirely non-functional.
This situation has been a complete nightmare to deal with. For a company that claims to care about pet recovery, they seem to lack basic operational efficiency and customer support. I am now looking for another provider that values their customers and offers reliable service.
Avoid this company unless you want to deal with endless frustration and no resolution to your issues.
You don't need to pay them at all. Their subscription doesn't give you anything useful. Microchips can't be deactivated remotely and are permanent. Registration companies such as HomeAgain only store microchip number and your contact info. They don't delete this info even if you don't pay.
If you want real help in case your pet is lost, go with a different registration organization. Many are completely free.
Very frustrating. HomeAgain took all my information and only then allowed me to enter a chip number for a dog we were adopting. It came back with number not found. Then said to call them. When we called them, they had the number all along. Their system lied. In the meantime since it appeared the chip was not registered, we had a vet exam, blood work and shots done ( several hundred dollars) only to find out there was a previous owner. If the chip is registered, it should say so.
