I am posting this complaint to expose the unfair business practices and breach of policy by Gurufi and its administrator/editor, Brian.
I hired Gurufi to edit my graduate school admission essay for Ivy League universities. Gurufi’s official policy explicitly guaranteed that they would provide rewrites/revisions if the customer was unsatisfactory with the draft.
However, when I requested a rewrite—acting strictly within their advertised policy—Brian refused to honor the guarantee. Instead, he expressed shock ("I am so surprised"), falsely claimed I violated an unnamed rule, and abruptly banned me from using any writer on the website forever. He cut off all communication with a single word: "Cease."
This unexpected platform ban occurred less than a week before my Ivy League deadline. Admission essays affect a person's life, and this company completely abandoned their contractual obligations at the worst possible moment.
Fortunately, I finished the essay on my own, was accepted into the Ivy League grad school, and successfully graduated. I proved that I did not need their unprofessional service. However, their deceptive business practice of abandoning paying customers before critical deadlines must be documented to warn others.
That's absolutely chilling — abandoning someone days before an Ivy League deadline is just cruel. But you finishing the essay yourself and getting accepted? That's the ultimate power move. Brian's "Cease" turned into your starting gun. I'm genuinely inspired by your resilience.
