Kevin Stoner was so bad they they ended up firing him before my case was even finalized. I filed a complaint due to the fact that he missed filing motions, couldn't be bothered to file a motion for 6 weeks when a judge told him to - the motion was 2 paragraphs of about 3-4 lines each, and he never had any clue about what was going on in my case. He came to my mediation after not having read the PRE report, stayed quiet while I did everything, then billed for a full 4 hours when we were done in 2. The magistrate on my case got fired because of multiple rulings that were so clearly terrible that we had a second change, time for him to step up and redeem himself? hahahaha, not a chance. Took me 6 emails over the course of 3 weeks for him to even remember that he had to file somethings. When the other party filed a potential parenting order that did not match what the judge said, he didn't respond until asking me to do it for him when it was too late. I redlined the offer from my ex, and rather than put it together in an actual motion he just uploaded my redlined version. Cost me $100k and he spent about 20 minutes doing anything. At the in person hearing, he stumbled and used 10 of his allotted minutes stuttering and trying to figure out what words even are, because he had done zero preparation. I reached out to complain about this whole thing and his management took 3 weeks to review everything, then their response was to fire him and tell me that he had done a great job representing me. I gave them a deadline to make things correct, I said that since he did a half way job, they need to refund half. Now that 3 different people have said he did great, I expect the full amount and a written apology. I will be reporting both him and the firm to the Colorado Bar. Kevin for negligence and malpractice and Cordell and Cordell for vicarious liability. They knew he was terrible and had oversight, they chose to let him run the ship directly into the ground at full speed.
Claimed loss: $100,000 in charges, $250k in punitive charges. His inability to be a lawyer has cost me 2 years and counting of proper parenting time. My ex has been called out for parental alienation and Kevin never even brought that up to the court.
Desired outcome: I want a full refund, punitive damages, and for Cordell and Cordell to cover all my court costs for a new lawyer to clean up this mess. I now have to hire an appeal lawyer and a new general council due to malpractice.
