Canada Post Tipping apparently

Apparently some canada post employees expect a tip over the christmas period. When my mother (A senior) was too naive to pick up on the canada post lady's innuendos in the conversations when my mother was out walking she (My mother) got a cute little package in her mail box along with her mail jan. 04/10. It was a piece of styrofoam wrapped in christmas paper with a bow. Indicating a lump of coal and her displeasure from the canada post lady. When the canada post mail lady spoke to my mom previously on her walks she indicated how she liked working the neighborhood at this time of year as she would get a bottle of wine or chocolates. How outrageous. Canada post gets a good wage. My senior mother does not and would rather donate to the food bank. To be this petty and small is unbelievable.

Why not appreciate the gift of styrofoam that you have been so graciously provided with? Just think of all the fun and exciting things that you can do with it! : D

Really though, you're probably reading too much into it to think that the mail carrier was expecting a gift. I highly doubt that she expects a gift from everyone on her mail route, or that she gives a gift-wrapped block of styrofoam to everyone who doesn't give her something. Assuming your mother doesn't live in the middle of nowhere, the logistics of that seem pretty unlikely. Most likely, she either meant it as a cute joke for someone she was familiar with, or someone else put it in there.

that is shocking behaviour on the part of the Canada Post employee. I hope that she has moved on to a new route for the coming Christmas period.

Canada Post employees make as much as $25 to $35 an hour + fee from delivering unsolicited flyers + $3 from each customs parcel delivers to your house or office. Leaving the 'lump of coal' package was very rude, it should be reported to her supervisor, or to the Canada Post customer service toll free [protected]

Canada Post High postal rates

Are there ways to stop Canada Post from charging ridiculous postal rates? For a parcel less than 5g, I need to use the parcel weight cost, instead of the letter rates, just because the height is more than 2cm.

In addition, the rates are ridiculously high. Are there no ways to stop them from this? It is killing small businesses, espesically online business.

Which authority is best to approach for to highlight what Canada Post is doing to them?

Due to the highest postal rates, I was forced to abandon my on line book selling business. The rates changes to higher levels so frequently, it is impossible to keep up with the postage costs with other international sellers. Years ago, they had a book rate which was abolished in favor of better revenue for the post office. Now, when you take a package to the post office, in addition to weighing it they have to measure its length, width and thickness. Consumers lost millions of extra dollars for this way determining the cost, and the case is now in court. Another thing they do to beef up the profit is to added a fuel surcharge to the already high rate. You do all these, but there is no guarantee that the package is delivered (within Canada that is) within a reasonable time. Perhaps it is wise to abandon the Canada Post and look for alternative methods in shipping.

Canada Post Stay away

I shipped a small parcel to Calgary from Kelowna BC using Canada post express. I was promised it would get there in two days time, it did. Express post also means I would get my money order in an additional two days. That's a total of four days there and back. Four days after I should of received my money order, I called Canada Post. They told me they didn't know where my money was and that I should launch an investigation as to where my money is. I got a phone call three days after that, saying that they need the information that I had given them three days prior (they obviously lost it). Two days after that I received a phone call telling me that I need to phone Canada post, I phoned them and asked them where my money order was. The lady told me it was in the canceled mail pile in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I asked her why this happened and she said she had no idea...(typical Canada post representative response) I told her the reason why I sent it express was because I needed the money quickly, and it has been over a week since I should have received my money now have to wait an additional week for them to process it again and send it across the country to kelowna, leaving me in a very bad position as far as money goes.

Her response to me was, well it says here that they will reimburse you the shipping...Ha! 10 dollars! I need a hell of a lot more then that to compensate for the money that was lost.

Canada Post does not care, about me, my situation or anyone else for that matter.

Good luck to anyone looking for any kind of compensation or explanation, because Canada post just "doesn't know".

Canada Post Fuel surcharge

Sending a small package (book) to overseas from Canada via Canada Post is now becoming a huge nightmare. Their postal rate is world's highest and the service is the worst. A package I sent recently to England weighed under 1kg, they charged me $7.35 fuel surcharge on the top of a hefty fee for postage. A book mailed to me from Vancouver on May 8th was only delivered to me on June 8- a whole month to move a 16 oz book from a state bordering mine. A birthday card mailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 28th arrived in Edmonton Alberta only on 12th June- after 15 days.

Canada Post is too eager to raise the price on stamps and postage, but their efficiency in regards to delivery has gone to the gutter.

Canada Post Unreliable service

I frequently mail identical oversized letters across canada. Almost always, the sask-destined letters are returned with insufficient postage when all the out of province destinations are processed okay.

I know the letters meet the size, and weight restrictions for the specified postage, and yet canada post returns them with different additional requirements each time. Incompetent bozos.

Canada Post keeps Loosing money But Purolator which is owned by Canada Post makes money.
Canada post is consistently late delivering parcels . Purolator is usually on time
The tracking shows parcels going from one distribution centre to another then it gets stuck and takes days to be delivered. The package I'm waiting for now has had a "expected Delivery date " changed three times . I might get it in the next 5 days. I have told my suppliers Not to ship with Canada Post.

I have been waiting for very important mail from Ottawa., since April 28th. A ballot for voting for a new conservative leader was to arrive in the mail. I got worried and called to headquarters to verify correct address. All was fine. May 10 they issued another one. I checked a few days later - still not arrived. I third ballot was mailed, but did not arrive a week later. I called to check -they mailed out the forth ballot, but it also never arrived to this day, which is DEAD LINE for ballots to be in the box! So I cannot vote! It makes one suspicious, is there mail tampering by people who recognize the Party address & throw these away, prohibiting & squashing votes? Or are there a bunch of unqualified immigrants working in the distribution department, who dump the mail anywhere. OH, BY THE WAY, I JUST CALLED CONSERVATIVE HEADQUATERS AND OTHERS ALSO ARE CALLING IN- WHO DID NOT RECEIVE THERI BALLOTS! SO, I AM CALLING THE NEWS MEDIA & A LAW FIRM. I AM CONSIDERING FILING A LAW SUIT AGAINST CANANDA POST!

Please care. It Is continually the lack of empathy over the phone that is sad and startling. We hear this from our clients and we have the same experience. We have used Canada Post for over 13 years. We are all in business together. It would make such a huge difference to our clients and to businesses like ours who invest so much into Canada Post every day.

Canada Post is a law unto itself. It can make any rule that will benefit management and without consideration for ease of use or efficiency. The rules are made to keep the client at bay. Try getting help from the complaints department - the whole point of the complaints department is to stonewall and confuse the complainant. I suppose they feel if they are sufficiently unhelpful and arrogantly disdainful it will convince the complainant to go away. They have absolutely no need to help. They do not need our business, or so it would seem.

Canada Post Non-letter size envelopes

Canada Post will deliver to you an oversize envel0pe but they make me drive 45 minutes one way to be able to deliver it. Also we still have old green group boxes which once the whole box was missing. We can't get parcels living 45 minutes from town and we have to drive 45 minutes to Kelowna to pick up a parcel. Canada Post said they can't install new mailboxes because there are only 40 homes in my 145 lot subdivision built so far in the past 40 years and that however long it takes for our subdivision to be built is how long it will take to get new mailboxes so we don't have to drive 45 minutes to mail large envelopes and receive parcels. Canada Post said screw me!

To increase their profit margin and saying screw to service, Canada post will do anything to inconvenience others. Mail deliveries were stopped in rural areas a few years ago. That's what happen when an ineffective government with puppets as head of the country and heads of crown corporations rule this country. By not delivering essential to customers, these people can have a bigger bonus.

Canada Post No po - returned to sender

Ordered a package from the US on Marc 12/09. It was shipped by USPS-Int until it reached Canada - where it was then handled by Canada-Post.

The package arrived in town here, but was "returned to sender" immediately only on account of having no pob number included in the address.

In a town of just over 5400, you'd think that "they" could've at least had the "consideration and courtesy" to look up the street number and name in their databases, instead of just putting it back on the truck and returning it back to the sender in California. They probably would have located the pob number for it if they were decent enough to check. They didn't even attempt to make delivery.

Their "NO PO - RETURN TO SENDER" policy is a very irritating, inconsiderate, thoughtless and just plain LAZY way of managing parcels for delivery to Northern BC recipients.

If you go to the same Postal outlet all the time, my guess is they don't like you. It seems like too small a town for that to really happen. I've worked alot of retail/service jobs- and the nasty customers get nasty treatment- maybe not to your face-but you'll get it! So cheer up, take the PO girls a coffee tomorrow and I bet this won't happen ever again.

Canada Post Parcel tracking

So, you might think as I have thought that having a tracking number for a parcel would help you. Check out the screen shot attached. This parcel has now been to Richmond B.C. eight times. It is suppose to be going to London, Ontario. What does Canada Post say? I have a 50 / 50 chance of ever getting the parcel back. I can just watch forever the parcel going back and forth between Ontario and B.C. Why is this happening? The postal code was miss read by someone and entered in a V instead of a N. You would think that Canada Post would be able to recognize that a package had been acrooss the country eight times and you think that if they had a track number that could actually find a package.

I know first hand what Canada Post is like. I worked for them many years ago in a large sorting facility. I watched as sorters would drop the mail on the floor and instead of picking it up, they would leave it for the next shift. I did mail searches and found mail ten years old. People would steal jewelry. If a package said FRAGILE, they would throw it around till it broke. Every couple of years these lazy workers go on strike for more money and better benefits. It is okay to give them more, but if they don't want to do their job, they should not have one. The last three parcels that were to be delivered to me on time were late. When I go onto the tracking website, no tracking information has been updated for days. Sometimes my mail is delivered to the wrong post office even though the address is correct. I once sent a large box from Edmonton to Toronto insured. Somehow they lost it. Oh, they found it eventually, but really, how do you lose a large box. The bottom line, the service sucks. When I was young, you could send a letter across Canada for five cents. Now it costs $1.25 to send the letter and it takes longer to do so. Sure there are a lot more people in Canada, but they now have more equipment to sort the mail and faster jets to fly it.

Canada Post. Absolutely terrible. Non accountable incompetent unionized government workers. As just my most recent example out of many I am waiting on a big heavy computer that came all the way from California thru customs to Mississauga with no issue at all until it went out for the final leg of the "delivery" via a Canada Post employee on a truck just 20 KMs away from my house in Toronto. That was bloody 9 days ago and it still says out for delivery?! I call Canada post daily to no avail. Total idiots. They have no clue what happened and cannot tell me where it is or what to do only tell me it says out for delivery. Close this tax payer funded fiasco of a system down and fire the whole lot of them! Overpaid underworked unionized lazy [censor] with a pension paid for by the 70% majority of canadians that will be not receiving a pension. Cant wait for the public to finally wake up one day and revolt. You will loose your pensions and on that day i will laugh and laugh. In an accountable world the driver would be fired and put in jail for stealing. Not Canada post.

Canada Post should take lessons from United States Postal Service.

After spending time back and forth from Canada, I can with certainty that USPS outperforms Canada Post to an embarrassing level of superiority. My latest foley is a package coming from Singapore, if delivered to my US address, it takes about 3 days from landing to date of delivery. Canada Post has had my package for over 2 weeks and still no delivery even worse, CP does not even offer tracking service for these packages. Conversely, USPS can track without issues. How long does it possibly take to deliver a package from Vancouver to Ottawa? Perhaps a wheel broke on their 'covered wagon' coming across the rockies.

I took a chance with CP on this order but, I will henceforth have it delivered to my US address and drive to pick it up. At least I will be able to track it.

I cannot even launch a case with the vendor because Canada Post accepted it and they have no way of tracking within Canada Post.

Sometimes it just sucks to be Canadian where we have been lulled to sleep and passiveness allowing these state run agencies like Canada Post to run wild and free with no accountability to the Canadian public. A class action suit would be the right vehicle to force changes at CP.

My husband works for Canada Post, St.Michel branch in Montreal. In November, they restructured the company and totally screwed things up. All employees had to re-apply for new routes...my husband being near the bottom of the list, was not left with much choice. He, who had been a letter-carrier by foot before, now got the post to deliver parcels by truck and to bring the mail to the grey boxes for the postmen. His new hours are supposed to be from 8:45-4:45. Problem is that with the restructuring, they added more work to each postmen. Letter carriers on foot are working an average of 4 hours more per day than before. My husband, who is supposed to work till 4:45, has been working till 8:00 pm every day for over 2 months now. That is 12 hour days! He is stressed, exhausted and this morning broke down in tears. Do they not realize that over-working their employees just to save themselves money is going to cost them more in the end.Not only are they paying more in overtime right now, but many of these employees will suffer injuries, burn outs...etc No one can last working 12 hour days for so long! Not too mention the strain it puts on the family.
I work full time too and we have kids. After work I have to pick up the baby from daycare and my son from afterschool program...by the time I get home it is 7:00pm! Kids are cranky and hungry...have to stress to get them supper, check my son`s homework, give them their baths...and bed time all by myself. So now I am physically and emotionally exhausted too! We only see my husband on weekends...This is really putting a strain on the family!
This morning, my husband`s boss also threatened my husband, who is a very hard worker...to try to get h im to work even more! Canada Post you are ###ED UP! excuse my language ...but this is totally unacceptable. Your abuse of your employees is disgusting!

Why is it that a parcel being sent to the UK sits in Montreal for more than a month the is' in transit' for more than two weeks? I am not at all impressed! I have a child at school in Canterbury and sen out a parcel Sept 28 she got it three days ago and until a week ago no one could tell me where it was. I sent another one Nov 12 and tracking says, five weeks later, that it is awaiting shipment out of Canada. WHY?

Priority package shipped from Calgary to Shelburne did not arrive on expected date. As with many other similar complaints, the package was tracked to a Canada Post depot less than 60 km from the delivery location, where it is sitting awaiting pick up for delivery. The sender paid a high rate for guaranteed delivery and Canada Post standard for delivery is one day for the postal code area.

Another epic fail by Canada Post to deliver what they promise.

Canada Post Returned package to sender

I was expecting a package to be sent to me via Canada Post Regular Parcel with a tracking number from Ontario to Calgary, AB and the expected arrival date was January 26. A few days after the 26th, I decided to check the progress with the package as it has obviously not arrived. On the website, the indication was that 'the package has been returned to the sender because the receipent was not located at the address'. Sure, I wasn't home on the 26th but I didn't even get a stupid notification/pick-up card from CP and I was supposed to if no one is home at the time. I immediately contacted CP expressing my frustration and requesting a send-back or a refund but they told me that they could not re-route the package back to Calgary and in order to request a refund, you have to call a damn 1-800 number. February 7th right now and still no sign of a Canada Post delivery truck at my door. Never again, Canada Post.

Same thing happened to me.. something I was waiting for was marked return to sender, I contacted them right away and even though the package was still nearby, could not be retrieved. Now it has to go all the way back and will need to ship it again at MY expense.. thanks Canada Post.. I will never give my business to Canada Post again.

Not to mention, out of the other packages sent, only the one with a Fragile sticker was seriously dented. Can't wait to see the condition of this package once it finally arrives.

I paid for an EBay item on Mar 12/09. It was sent up by USPS International to Canada (which has been totally fine everytime).
Then it got to Canada, where Canada Post took over handling it.
Great!

I received an email notification the night before, that said that my package had arrived, and was being held at the "local post office" for me to go and pick up. I went to go pick up the item, only to find that it had been "returned to sender".

THE REASON ?
Only because it had no PO Box number on the ship to label.

I mean "really" - I reside in Fort Nelson BC with a population of just over 5400 which is a small town. So, I assumed "naturally" that the agents here would've at least took a little extra time and "care" to punch in the street address in their computers to look-up the PO. No go!

So now my item, that I have waited patiently for since the 12th, is being returned to the sender in California.

Canada Post is just LAZY and CORRUPT, and the agents that work here should've at least held the item until I could have identified the package, instead of simply shipping it back to the sender.

Some services in this country - REALLY SUCK!

This time I ordered a product within canada (Ontario) by expedited parcel and to be received today at the latest (7 days). I spoke to a customer service rep at canada post...
