Archives.com Free Trial Cancelled asap

Archives.Com/Paypal were both told within 3-4 minutes of joing Archives.com that the information provided by Archives.com was 30--40 years old, completely wrong information and I wanted the service
cancelled asap and my $39 refuned.Paypal said I had to wait the 7 days and complain after they charged
me when the whole point of telling Paypal was the Archives.Com would NOT let me cancel and sellls
information that is way.way, decades outdated and incorrect.
Paypal on the 7th day when I was charged then said I had to cancel within 7 days and it wasnt fraud.
Idiot you Paypal told me 3-4 minutes, yes 3-4 minutes after joining that I coundt complain for 7 days and you couldnt cancel then.

Archives.com is a complete """RIPOFF""".They told me they had the infromation I wanted so I agreed thru Paypal
another scam to try for 7 days FREE. Folks within 3 minutes I noticed Archives.com information was 30-40
years old, the person nowhere near where I said the person lived and it was way outdated(30-40 years) completely incorrect and WRONG information.
so I canceled/attemped to many times and they would let me.Paypal was informed wiithin 5 minutes and said they would note the account until I was actually charged..5 minutes after joining and then agreed with Archives that I ordered the Free trial...yes you idiot Paypal..but O told you 4-5 minutes later I couldnt cancel
and you said you could do anything until I was charged.

TELL ME THIS IS A MAJOR SCAM WITH PAYPAL ND ARCHIVES.COM

"I just tried several times to cancel my trial membership. EVERY time I tried, I would get an "Oops, something went wrong" message. This is clearly a scam. They won't let you cancel your trial subscription so they can charge you. I will be posting this on my facebook page, to warn others NOT to sign up for a "free" 7 day trial."

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Any way that I attempt to cancel my subscription... "Oops. An error has occured."
There is no error. The website is working exactly as they intend, and it's a scam. I will be furious if I am unable to cancel my subscription before I am billed.

Peter, I can't speak for Paypal account management practices, but becaise I am part of Archives.com Members Service staff, I can assist you. First, we strive to keep all records as up to date and complete as possible and use the most credible data sources available. Since many records come from sources such as those published by state and county governments, we can make no warranties that everything is completely up-to-date. If you feel a public record is inaccurate the best means of correcting this is to contact the source of the data where that public information originates. This is typically with the local government or municipality. However, per the terms and conditions we both agreed to, we also have a satisfaction guarantee with our service. You could have simply contacted us in one of three ways: our service center number provide on your terms and conditions and website [protected]), the Help Center contact page within your account, and our contact us page. Our member services staff is working everday between 7am-7pm, CST (even on holidays) and would have been happy to assist you directly. I have already refunded the amount of $39.95 to your PayPal account on 11/30/2010 11:11 AM, PST. This has processed through our order system and processor. We’ve found that certain institutions take longer to process a refund or reversal back into your available balance. If you do not see the credit post to your account within 5 business days please reply and let us know. A confirmation email has already been sent you as well. Sincerely, James, Member Services.

Archives.com Simple low class scam by losers who depend on the user not reading the terms and conditions

First, they say FREE. So why does FREE require a credit Card? Next, they TRICK you into going through several steps/screens and then bam: no results unless you give them credit card information to see the results of the FREE query. Simple low class scam by losers who depend on the user not reading the terms and conditions and failing to CANCE the Service... these folds are depending on ripping off unsuspecting folks...

I agree, These people are a scam. Didn't even give them our credit card number but they were still able to find it and charge our account. Called their NEW NUMBER [protected] and finally got through to a person. Demanded to know who they were and they only said Archives.com. I then demanded their Federal EIN and full business name and address so I can file a complaint. They promptly refunded all my money from the 4 months of their siphoning and never gave me that information. BEWARE, they can gather your information now without you even entering it.
They could not even tell me which card was used. Time to change our cards.

This company does not make it easy to cancel subscription, or even contact them. They are fast to take your credit information but very difficult to contact them. If I had not found the number to call on the complaint board I would have been unable to cancel the subscription.

Went to order an uber home from work at 1 a. M. And its freezing... Not enough money in my account?! What. Couldn't figure out what this was, took me almost an hour... Seems they charged me $50! Wtf! Yes $49.95 and i didn't sign up for anything! I entered my card info then closed the window without agreeing... Was just checking the site out. Do not sign up for anything with them. I guess their systems copy everything. In no way would i ever pay that amount of money for anything like that... ###holes. Im sure the call to them monday will be a not very nice one. My bank wanted me to close my account and open a new one which i just dont want to do, as the length of an account can effect your credit and such. So pissed! And i know i didnt sign or agree becasue their is no login file or my pc for this site and i save all passwords etc. Scam scam and more of a scam. Dont even visit this site.

Advertised as a 7 day free trial to find Names. I tried one name; company said they had a match; I signed up for 7 day free trial. A different name appeared but 7 days later I was billed for $39.95 on Paypal. I never tried another in that free sites had better and more accurate information. I only wanted the free trial to see if it was good enough to spend money on. It was not! I had no way of knowing how to cancel before they nailed me.

This company is a scam and does not deliver the goods!

I am admittingly an idiot. I gave my credit card number then cancelled. I pay my card through online bill pay every month and rarely check the bill. Who knows how long I've been paying for this free service. I believe this was almost 4 years ago or more ($10 a month) I wish I could get my money back. WTH. I have never used this and spent a ton of money. I cancelled online today. I'll update this comment page as to whether they actually cancel.

Newspaper archives dot com cannot be read on a tablet or smart phone and neither can Google News Archives. I've tried it and I doubt the creators are unaware of that fact hence no longer updating.

If news reading can be easily done on an Android then we have a chance but they are not going to please the 100 remaining PC users left.

If newspaper reading can be done on a smart phone in a user friendly format then we have a chance of real newspaper archives being online. That is why Google News Archives likely closed down because they realized it's impossible to do it on Android and it's even more absurd to please the remaining 100 people who uses actual computers and not phones which have no internal memory.
